Castles for sale
? Well, castles do come up for sale occasionally, though genuine medieval castles don't tend to figure in these very much. Most medieval castles are local or national treasures and have to be looked after in partnership with large, official organisations who can help with serious maintenance issues and fund raising. In the UK these tend to include English Heritage, the National Trust and the Historic Houses Association.
A castle doesn't have to be medieval to be enjoyed as a unique home, however. Take for example, Pennsylvania Castle
in Dorset, England. Built in 1800 during the reign of King George III, it was recently put up for sale. Originally the country home of John Penn, the grandson of William Penn who founded Pennsylvania, this castle might make the perfect home for a proud Pennsylvanian looking for an English base! According to this report
it's valued at a cool £4 million - approx USD 5.9 million. Here is a 360 degree view of it - http://www.360cities.net/image/pennsylvania-castle-england#152.80,2.42,49.7
NOTE: I've never visited the place nor do I have anything to do with the owners or the sale of the property. Just chanced upon it and thought it worth sharing!
